Lots and lots of 5 stars for this grill; 119 stars. This grill gets hot. One good tip, make sure you pre-heat and spray it with Pam. The heat is even cooking and at times a bit fast, but the dish is still really good.

Be careful (one reviewer advises) when cooking on a wooden deck. Make sure you have some bricks or concrete pavers to go under the feet. “This grill retains heat and you don’t want to burn your house down while entertaining guests,” says a Lodge Logic Charcoal Grill customer.

One of the pros of cleaning this grill is that it cleans easier than when it was new. Although, this grill is heavy, it does a really super nice job of cooking chicken, steaks, and hamburgers. It’s perfect for 1-4 people.

Another tip from another reviewer was to spread the charcoal (uses hardwood charcoal a couple of suggestions; Ozark Harwood Lump Charcoal and Apple Wood Chunks ) outward, and then drop the grill on top and let it warm up for a couple of minutes. To check your grill to see if it’s ready to start cooking, place your hand 4 inches over the top of the grill. Now if you can hold it there for more than a couple of seconds, it’s NOT HOT ENOUGH.

Even though, there are great reports about this grill, there are some cons. If you’re looking for a roaster or a smoker forget it. There is no lid, so no possible way of cooking a whole chicken. Many reviewers suggest buying a Weber for that, but if you want perfect steaks this is the grill you’ll love. A reviewer did suggest getting an Oval Dutch Oven to be flipped upside down and can be used as a lid or a large cast iron skillet would work too.

A Lodge Logic Charcoal Grill Reviewer says the design could’ve been done better. The fat and juices tend to run down the legs. He wishes they had nickel plated the body and redesigned the air intake and grill surface. The reviewer feels there is a lot of potential for improvement.

The other problem is using this grill for tailgating parties; Don’t bother. The reviewers were very disappointed (that’s how much they love this grill) but it stays so hot for too long that waiting for it to cool down to pack it up just isn’t worth it.

You do need to keep this oiled and keep it away from moisture. It needs to be covered and put in a shed to protect it from moisture.

Another reviewer recommends when your meal is done and the coals are still hot (no doubt about that) you can put a pot of beans on it or even a dessert while you’re eating your meal.

Make sure that kids and clumsy people stay away from this grill. It gets very HOT.

There is a wish for raised rim around the grill, because if it’s not level hot dogs wants to roll off.
